Melissa Joan Hart
Melissa Joan Hart made her first national commercial at age 4 and hasn’t stopped since. At the age of 12 she starred in the cult hit sitcom Clarissa Explains it All for Nickelodeon for 4 seasons. When that show ended, she and her producing partner mother Paula had started the production company Hartbreak Films which sold a movie to Showtime called Sabrina The Teenage Witch.
After the success of the movie they went on to produce the television show and Melissa was on to her second starring role in a sitcom as Sabrina in Sabrina the Teenage Witch which ran for 7 years on network television. Sabrina was sold internationally and became a franchise that included TV movies, an animated series and numerous books, accessories and even ice pops.
Melissa has been seen in feature films such as Drive Me Crazy, Can’t Hardly Wait and most recently God’s Not Dead 2. She is a veteran of the stage having starred at 11 years old in Circle Repertory’s Beside Herself with William Hurt, Calista Flockhart and Lois Smith. She performed a monologue as part of the play Imaging Brad at The Players Theater at the age of 12 that was written by Peter Hedges and directed by Joe Mantello. She also performed in Tony Randall’s National Actors Theatre in The Crucible beside Martin Sheen and Michael York.
She has broken ratings records with her television movies such as Holiday in Handcuffs, My Fake Fiancé and Santa Con, and just this past winter with A Very Merry Toy Store among others. Her latest movie A Very Nutty Christmas will be out during the holidays of 2018.
Melissa and Paula were the only individuals granted permission by Shirley Temple to make a movie titled Child Star about her life story for ABCs Wonderful World of Disney. Other films they produced included Silencing Mary for NBC, Two Came Back, Up Up and Away and many others.
She starred in her third title role as Mel in Melissa and Joey alongside Joey Lawrence between 2009-2014 which was the first comedy to succeed on ABC’s cable network.
