Top band, Madness, support mito in memory of Beibhínn
When Kevin and Carla’s daughter, Beibhínn, passed away earlier this year they vowed to spread more awareness for mitochondrial diseases in Ireland.
“Our daughter, Beibhínn Hegarty Devine, fell asleep to mito in January 2019. Since then we have seen that there is little awareness of this condition in Ireland – both north and south – so taking inspiration from the Charlie Gard family and foundation, my partner and I have decided to try and raise awareness and funds via sports teams and other local support here in Ireland.
“On Tuesday 20th August, with the help of Daniel McCrossan local Mla, and the band’s management, we were given an opportunity to meet the great Madness before their gig that evening. It was a great photo opportunity with Madness alongside our new banner for Beibhínn to highlight their support for mitochondrial diseases.
“This is just the start of our campaign and we will work together with the Charlie Gard Foundation to create as much awareness and funds as we can in Ireland, all in Beibhínn’s memory.”
