Sporting success with Sir Geoff Hurst
On Friday 19th July 2019 we held our first sporting dinner in conjunction with Change Fundraising. It was an honour to be hosting the legend that is Sir Geoff Hurst MBE, and the evening was not only a sell out, but a truly terrific evening of fun and sporting nostalgia.
Connie and Chris made the journey up north to Newcastle to attend the event and give their personal thanks to Sir Geoff for being such a wonderful guest, and regaling us all with his triumphant stories of that iconic football match in 1966.
Thanks to the amazing guest list pledging, donating, match funding and bidding on the fantastic array of auction items, we raised over £6000 for our charity, which is an amazing achievement and we thank everyone who attended for their support and good will.
We were also offered £2,500 of auction items from pictures to memorabilia signed by Sir Geoff himself, including England tops and 1966 replica balls, all of which will be auctioned on our eBay shop in the coming days. A huge thanks to Danny Mitchell at Change Fundraising for this generous donation.
We’re also incredibly grateful for Geoff’s message of support:
Another thank you goes to Media Borne: a Newcastle based company who captured the event throughout the evening.
If anyone would like to know what items we have from the event, or when the auctions will begin, please do drop us an email on hello@thecharliegardfoundation.org.
