London Marathon Relay Run Challenge
Would you like to take part in a unique London Marathon Relay and raise vital funds for some of our children?
On Sunday 26th April 2020 the 40th London Marathon should be going ahead but sadly, due to the current global pandemic, it’s been cancelled. We got our thinking caps on to work out how we could still participate in the event under lockdown conditions, and the London Marathon Relay was born!
We have three campaigns currently running that need vital and immediate funds and are looking for people to commit to running, or walking, just one mile for one of our campaigns, and being a part of a collective effort to cover the distance of what would have been the London Marathon (26.2 miles). However, the support so far has been so overwhelming that we’re on track for covering the distance of about six London Marathons!
If you’d like to take part in the relay all we ask is that you make a suggested donation of £5 towards one of our three causes, and take a short 10-20 second video either before, during or after your walk/run confirming what you’re doing and why. Please take a look at our video below for some inspiration.
You can complete your one mile during your one hour of Government agreed exercise, or on a treadmill in the comfort of your own home, or even in your garden like good old Captain Tom – the choice is yours! If you can fit in more than one mile, fantastic! But you only need to complete one mile to become one of our team members.
Entries close at 5pm on Saturday 25th April to allow for us to collect and create the special videos of our team members collectively covering the distance of the London Marathon to honour the anniversary of the race. Also, for those who participate they will also receive a certificate and virtual medal!
So if you’d like to be a part of our relay team and help raise vital funds for Daniel, Maxwell or Nathaniel, we would love to hear from you! Please send an email to stephanie@thecharliegardfoundation.org, or a message to our Facebook page, and we can allocate you a team and send you the details of what you have to do.
And please also keep an eye out for our special 2.6 charity challenge coming up this Sunday too. If you like movies, challenges and are looking to beat the boredom at home, our special 2.6 challenge is one for you!
