September update:
This week, we continue to reach out to the Health and Care Bill Select Committee members to request a meeting. We have contacted Virginia Crosbie MP, Gareth Davies MP, Mary Robinson MP, Chris Skidmore MP, Karin Smyth MP, Edward Timpson MP, and Hywel Williams MP. We will continue to report back on any updates. Elsewhere, the Health and Social Care Committee has announced a new inquiry into NHS Litigation Reform. The case for the reform of NHS litigation comes against a background of a significant increase in costs and concerns that the clinical negligence process fails to do enough to encourage lessons being learnt to promote future patient safety. The inquiry will look to receive written submissions on some of the following points:
How can the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch work to improve short term responses to patient safety incidences and therefore reduce the number of those who are forced to pursue litigation as a means of obtaining non-financial remedies?
What legislative changes would be required to support these changes?

We will look to submit a response highlighting the issues parent’s face with their critically ill child when their medical professionals pursue litigation.
