£8500 Raised to mark our First-Year Anniversary
June 1st 2019 marked the Charlie Gard Foundation’s first-year anniversary and we made sure we celebrated in the best possible way: by raising awareness and fundraising over the full weekend.
On Saturday 1st June we celebrated our birthday, and helped raise awareness for the foundation, in a unique and fun way with help from the northern branch of the Rock Choir.
At 4pm the Rock Choir descended on Grey’s Monument in the city centre of Newcastle with a flash mob event with over 200 choir members in attendance. The atmosphere was amazing, and the choir were astounding, and it was a most fantastical way to mark our first year running the charity.
On the evening we had a music event on in Teddington that raised over £1,500 for the charity, which was a great way to end the day. And on Sunday 2nd June a strong team of 28 tackled the walk across the O2, raising an amazing £7000 to be shared between the charity and two of our amazing clients, Daniel and Maxwell.
The charity couldn’t continue to run without the amazing team of supporters who help raise funds, and spread the word, for mitochondrial disease. Connie and Chris wish to express their thanks, and you can watch their short video below:
